Used Parts Source

I have no personal experience with this link, but found it on another German auto forum.

http://car-part.com/

Supposedly, you can enter the car and the part you need; and it will show you auto scrap yards that have it. The OP said that, even if they don't show the specific part and if they have the vehicle, you can often call to find if they do have the part.

As said, no personal experience here, but worth a try.

Re: Used Parts Source

I tried it in the past with mixed results. Potomac German Auto used to be great...the largest Mercedes recyclers in the U.S. And they were professional. Ever since they got bought out their customer service has steadily slipped away. I had mixed results with vendors on car-part...many had no knowledge of the vehicles and seemed shady. It was rare that they actually had the cars, also. Mostly just the key parts off the car.

RE: Used Parts Source

I have used the site for years, I mean over 15 years!, good thing is its liking shopping, one place may have the part for 1/2 price, best is if an area is near you and you can go and inspect the part (especially body parts). I have bought motors, trannies, I mean front ends for collision repair, easy as you can also email back and forth and they will send you pictures of items in question. Obviously some companies just lack customer service, my experience is move on, if you cannot agree over the phone when looking for parts,m imagine return process, just headaches.

I have used that site for years. Its as good as the junkyard you are dealing with. I've only had positive experiences but of course anything is possible if you come across a less trustworthy junkyard.
