Storage Compartment under rear seat, passenger side

What was the purpose of the storage compartment under the passenger side back seat?

I know the large floor storage compartment is for the tool kit and first aid kit.

Thank you.

In my 2000 G500, it is storage for the Hella emergency lantern.

I checked my manual and there is no reference to what it is used for. What emergency light is that? I did not know Hella made one. Very neat.

The 2002 had an extra little cubby just behind the battery that was pretty subtle. Nice little secret stash point for some cash or contraband

The jack is stored in there, with a securing strap. On my G55 (2006)

Hella Emergency Lantern

The attached photo shows the factory supplied Hella Emergency Lantern. It stands 9" tall and hold 5 D cell batteries. The legs can be folded up against the body for storage. It can be switched either as a clear work light or as a flashing orange emergency warning light.

My MBUSA parts dealer shows that it is still available, but definitely not cheap.

RE: Storage Compartment under rear seat, passenger side

My truck has two compartments. A small one on the passenger side, and a much larger one on the driver's side. In the passenger side, I keep extra parts like several hoses, two additional serpentine belts, and additional items I cant remember. The other box is where I put my firearms when travelling across country.

They don't do you much good that far out of reach. You need to check to see which states reciprocate your CCP, so you can keep them where they can be of some use. See here:
