It only squeaks when making left hand turns but goes away as soon as I touch the brake. I've unmounted all the wheels and checked for play and any sort of noises when turning the wheels by hand, but haven't found anything. Would a bad bearing stop making noise when touching the brake? Thanks for any pointers.

Have you lubricated the lock and latch mechanism recently?

I also verified that the squeak isn't coming from the rear door. When driving in a circle at walking speed I had my wife listen and it definitely is coming from the right rear wheel area. As soon as I tap the brake the squeak goes away. Using the parking brake does not get rid of the squeak.

A brake pad that is not returning to the rest position completely? A worn brake pad?

The springs have a coating or a plastic sleeve on the ends. Wonder if one has worn down to metal. As a test you could squirt some lubricant in the top and lower spring contact points to see if affects the squeak in any way. Mark

I'll have to try some of the suggestions later on. But that will have to wait since the garage door is broken and won't open more than 1.90 meter height right now...at least I can still use my two wheel alternatives!

No vibes. Turns out that the vent on the rear most pillar on the passenger side was loose. I had to pull the interior panel to get to the screw that holds it in place. All better now. So you are saying what we all have suspected over the years that you have a screw loose.

At this rate I won't have to worry about this squeak for a while.

You access it behind the interior panel over the right rear wheel. It can clog and make a squeaking sound while turning, especially when the fuel level is low.

Use a laser thermometer to check for rising temps on the rear brake. Also check that the rear back plate on the rotor is not barley rubbing the rotor it can only rub if close at certain times and speeds. Also second the sticking caliber....... I just had a combination of all these at the same time on my right rear wheel on my W123..........must have pulled the wheels 15 times. Edited by GTO71 9/28/2016 1:08 PM
