Preservation Oil Sheet 223.1

Reference is made to this oil ( Sheet 223.1 )  in Sheet 381.0 Preservation instructions Passenger Cars ,however this Sheet is no longer on the bevo ( http://bevo.mercedes-benz.com/bevolistenmain.php?content_action=sea... ) site . Also checked the German site.  Any idea what type of oils are to be used in Laid up engines ? I have a bunch of engine in storage and would like to give them a little love.

I don't know what Benz specifically has specified there but for an engine that is just sitting you could use a fogging oil. Some folks "pickle" engines by sealing everything with plugs and filling them with oil from the intake but thats a ridiculous mess and likely unnecessary for most. Boat/Marine shops usually have lots of different engine storage fogging oil sprays.

You could remove exhaust manifold and fog in through there. Alternatively you can fog through glow plug/injector port. Intake side of the head is also an option for fogging but that would require removing intake manifold which is more work than exhaust.
