Door open alert?

I have a passenger side rear "door open" alert that has not gone away after replacement of the door latch micro switch. Any suggestions? Other places that would be good bets to look for a fault?

The G never recognized the front passenger door as open. I had the micro switch replaced about a year ago and after that got the dome light etc. when the door is open. When the G started saying the rear passenger door was open when it was not, I assumed another micro switch had gone bad. Had the same indie garage that did the front door replace the micro switch in the rear door. No luck, still get the door open alert.

RE: And E brake. Linked?

From time to time the "Brake" light on the dash comes on as if the emergency brake is on. Its not, I'm driving around. The emergency brake works fine, the "Brake " light does come on when I apply the brake. I was wondering if the brake light error and the door open error might be due to the same component. Or maybe the switch for the E brake is just starting go and is unrelated.

RE: And E brake. Linked?

Both of those circuits operate by grounding the line (when the door is ajar, or brake lever is up). I would be looking for an abraded cable.  I don't have the circuit diagram for your G.   I suspect you will find that both wires travel in the same bundle, or terminate in the same module.

The dash brake light also comes on when you're low on fluid...

Re: Door open alert?

.. as for your door switch, the microswitch has a lead on it running to a connector behind the door skin. With that disconnected, the door should act as if its closed. (ruling out a faulty switch) If it doesn't, then there is grounding to something between the door and the rear SAM that it feeds ground to.

The microswitch is just a switched ground. Disconnecting it should have the same effect as closing the door.

So a voltmeter should show 12V with open door, and 0V with closed door, over the connector in the door-module? My G has the same symptom on front passenger door.

RE: Door open alert?

Checked the brake fluid level, that's fine.

RE: And now the front door lock...

The E brake and rear passenger door error messages are still coming up. Now the passenger side front door lock won't lock. It'll pop up when the doors unlock but won't go down when the doors lock (leaving that door unlocked). Seems odd to have that many things happen at once.

RE: Not the battery

Tried a new battery to see if maybe the existing battery was providing a just a bit too little voltage. No luck, nothing changed. Except I have to reset the clock.
