Re: Dead Battery

I could be wrong about the compartment switch. I remember reading about it. I will check my truck tonight, to see if it exist.
With fuse out, it may not. There are so many other components associated with Tele-Aid activation, such as airbag deployment, theft, crash detection, rollover detection and so on. Try disconnecting the T-A module alone to see.

Is you rubber antenna (above the windshield) missing or cracked. Look closely? If so, water can enter the overhead control module. A couple years back, I found sitting water and corroded connectors in mine.

Re: Dead Battery

The engine compartment switch is located on the driver side next to the differential locker fluid reservoir.
If it appears bent downwards, might be causing the system to remain on.
Just a hunch...

Re: Dead Battery

I pulled the hood switch out and will check tomorrow morning to see if there is any difference.
I think i am going to take the car to MB mechanic who's friend of my friend to get his opinion on command unit and instrument cluster drain issue and how to fix them.
I think I did just about everything that I could do with your help and came up with two possible culprit.

Re: Dead Battery

Make sure you report back with the dealer findings?
Best of luck with this.

RE: Dead Battery

I found the culprit for battery draining.
It was the driver side seat control module, MB Part# 2118704626
It would've been easier if the fuse for seat control, #27, was drawing the current, but it wasn't.
Instead, I had fuses 34,42,64 drawing currents and I don't have the knowledge to figure that out.
FYI, in retrospect, sometimes, I had to push back and forth the switch for seat control a couple of times to move seats, maybe it was sign of control module going bad.
It appears that all online sources including the part houses are selling the same OEM part(even with MB logo and part# on it) ranging from $136 to $250 whereas, MB dealer price is $393 with 25% discount.
I've placed on order thru Ebay at $136 which I'll receive in a few days.
Thank you all and David for your advice and comments.

Re: Dead Battery

That's good news. I would've never guess that to be the culprit!

Best of luck

RE: Dead Battery

I've received the part and replaced it last night.
It's 15 minutes job and I didn't even need any tools except wire cutter to cut the cable tie which was used to hold wire harness to module frame.
All is good now and thank you all.
