My floormats and carpet under the drivers seat were soaked through this morning! I've noticed the gap for a while, but never could get it pushed up and secured. is there a trick to push them back up? It doesn't look like any adhesive used between the door frame and the seal, should I pull it out, and attempt to re-mount, or are new ones in order? Thanks in advance Mike

If so, try pinching it tighter. Otherwise a little trim adhesive should do wonders. PS - From what I've heard about the CA drought, be glad for the rain!

I took a closer look tonight, and don't see any clips on the weatherseal, but I do see where there could have been some old adhesive. I'll probably go down that route. However, clips do sound good, especially to help keep the seal in place while the adhesive cures. Any leads on the existence of the clips I'm looking for?

Maybe it has been replaced and incorrectly sized. Other possibility is contraction and shrinkage of the materials over time due to heat exposure. My rec would be to order a new seal. No adhesive on there. I ususally seat mine with the handle of a 3cell Mag lite or something of that caliber and weight like a kiddie base ball bat. Just knock it into position, the U-shaped part of the gasket should hold the door opening flange and stay in place. Edited by otiswesty 1/9/2017 1:03 AM

Mine were like that and I eventually replaced all of them. One of the new ones is just a hair too long and forms a hump in one of the straight sections. You can't win. I might have kept one of the old seals. You could cut the existing (too short seals) and add a cm or so of seal to get a good fit. Not sure what kind of adhesive would be needed. Perhaps whatever is used on wetsuits?

You can squeeze/compress it a bit so it has a better bite and hold when pressing it back on the flat edge of the door frame. You can also do something similar as shown here (if the above does not work and you are waiting for a part: http://www.instructables.com/id/An-easy-and-permanent-fix-for-older... This is what I was referring to in my first post in this thread. You made it a lot clearer than I.

If your seals are old and are allowing wind through in places and you are struggling to get a replacement that offers a tight seal.... or if you happen to take your G wondering through high water often you can get some clear surgical tube that fits inside the round section of the door seal, feed it all the way through and then cut it to length. The surgical tube plumps up the rubber seal and ensures its nice and tight against the door. ] Edited by RSF.Gunney 1/10/2017 8:00 AM

Good for a temporary tight seal but probably not a good idea for the longevity of the hinge or surrounding mounting surface. I would think you might have to slam the door to close it?

I did the pinching on the clip, as well the resetting of the seal as was described in the instructables link on the passenger side door which didn't have as large of gap. It looks promising, and I'll be repeating it on the driver side seal next. Mikr

Two years ago I replaced the driver side gasket, it was almost too big for the opening but once in place it naturally stays tucked in that corner. I hope it holds up for you.

You can not easily stretch this door seal with it's fabric interior construction, even if you wanted. The 463 and 460 door gaskets are different. I could not stretch the old 463 gaskets even the paltry 1cm needed to make them fit all the corners correctly.
