290GDT A/C Compressor Part Number Confusion

Hi,

It's been quite a while since I have posted!

I require the wisdom of the forum

My 290GDT was fitted with a new A/C compressor Part A 000 230 70 11/80 (A000230701180) a year ago by Mercedes.
A 000 230 70 11/80 was the only available compressor in the country at the time and on-line searches by me showed 100% compatibility with my 290GDT (461.336).

Now the Compressor's clutch died under warranty but Mercedes don't think I have a claim as the compressor's part number is not 100% as per the EPC for my VIN.

What is confusing is the Mercedes OE part numbers for A/C compressors are all over the show, with one part number compatible with a whole list of other part numbers but the EPC don't always reflect this.

Any wisdom will be appreciated!

My VIN is WDB46133627114782

Thank you
Johann

RE: 290GDT A/C Compressor Part Number Confusion

The only thing I can see on the EPC is the part A000 230 7011 is used on the 602.982 motor and part A000 230 3911 is compressor for the 602.983 motor( which is your G as per your VIN).

I do not know the difference of the 602.982/602.983 motor variants...maybe LHD or RHD connections ? Turbo ? Compressor mounting or connection points?

A reverse search using the part numbers can usually provide you with the chassis/motor variants that part goes to.

 Hope this helps.

RE: 290GDT A/C Compressor Part Number Confusion

I would believe that if:
1. It was fitted by Mercedes
2. It was sold by Mercedes

It should be warranted by ........Mercedes!

Unless you modified it after it was installed?

I would also believe that you hav consumer rights in SA? Make w written claim to your dealer/installer and I would expect it to be solved.

Good luck

Re: 290GDT A/C Compressor Part Number Confusion

AFAIK 602.982 is the 129 Hp version in a W210 sedan. The engine in the G is 602.983 with 120 Hp. According to the table in EPC the part they sold You is for a 602.982 (as mentioned above). EPC shows two compressors for Your car A0002306811 (old nr. A0002303911) and A0002343111 (old nr. A0002342411) but the second one is marked as no more available.

So I assume the correct part nr. for Your car is A0002306811

RE: 290GDT A/C Compressor Part Number Confusion

Thank you for all the responses!
The current compressor was supplied and installed by MB and not modified in anyway.

A question would be what is the difference between a A0002303911 (old number) and a A0002307011 compressor?

They are both 7SBU16C compressors.

If you search on Denso http://www.denso-am.eu/e-catalogue/ for my G (OM 602.983) the Denso part number is DCP17023.

The equivalent Mercedes OE numbers for Denso DCP17023 are 0002303911 and 0002307011.
Thus they are exactly the same Denso Compressor!
What am I missing?

Thank you
Johann

Johann - 1/10/2017 8:59 PM  My VIN is WDB46133627114782 Thank you Johann

Than is not a valid vin. Closest valid vin is WDB4613362X114782. Correct part number for the air compressor is A0002343111.  Your number quoted has an extra 80 at end of the part number which means its either a local content part or a refurbished unit

RE: 290GDT A/C Compressor Part Number Confusion

You are correct Peter.

VIN on EPC is WDB4613362X114782 but my VIN on Vehicle License is WDB46133627114782 ................ I always mix the two

Thank you for the information around the extra 80. I never knew that.
