Technical details sound pretty promising with all G-Wagen features like t-case and difflocks kept and it looks like that this car could be a prototype for a serial production by MB (Kreisel´s policy seems to be to develop electric solutions for big manufacturers). The only drawback seem to be the batteries under the vehicle on the place of the exhaust, which isn´t the best solution for offroading... http://www.kreiselelectric.com/en/projects/electric-g-class/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1y4evYuPGgk

They keep the entire, expensive drivetrain (except for swapping the engine with a single electric motor, which is quite cheap). The drivetrain will need maintenance and lube, and adds quite a bit of inefficiency. Instead, they could have removed the engine and drivetrain, and used engines in each wheel. Much less maintenance, engine controls can take the place of diff locks, and you gain the clearance only portals would give. Johan-Kr

A quick-fix so Arnold can take it to LA and show off!

Just my luck! Arnold has gotten a fantastic machine. Then again, there is that waiting period to see if it holds it's own. I for one am not impressed with the gas milage of my new 2016 Gwagen: 15 mpg highway and the 2002 got 17 mpg. Then again there is a 280.7 CI engine under the hood producing 416 HP. Pushing that much HP out of such a small engine may be short lived, but the 550 has been around for some time. Edited by GwagenLover 1/24/2017 12:10 PM
