Looking for a mechanic in the Montreal (Canada) region

Hello everyone,

I'm new here and just posted my welcome message. I am new but I have been visiting this website a lot in the last year while I gradually went from considering buying a G to deciding which model to get and finally getting one. Thanks to everyone for contributing to this community.

I have little experience with mechanics but I plan to learn... but I prefer to learn one thing at a time! I'll start by painting the truck with a friend of mine who has lots of experience painting cars. I know mechanic is less forgiving and for now I thought I would trust someone who knows Gs inside and out! So I wanted to ask if anyone here is or knows a mechanic specialized in Gs that is located near Montreal?

Thanks!

Where in Montreal are you located? Warren T is located in St Sauveur only a couple of minutes from the highway. Show us your 290gd.

RE: Looking for a mechanic in the Montreal (Canada) region

Thanks guys,

I'm on the south shore of Montreal but Saint-Sauveur sure is doable. I heard someone in Saint-Hyacinthe has a lot of experience with Gs but I haven't been able to locate him yet. This would be closer for me. There is nothing to do on the truck except changing some seals and every possible type of oil so maybe I don't need an expert but I prefer to be safe.

I'm travelling now and don't have pictures with me but I will add some when I get back. I also have some documents to share with you brabus, I have visited your website so often that I'll gladly send you everything I have! Thanks for sharing all this, it has been very valuable.

I live in Drummondville and never heard of somebody in st hyacinth who knows something about g's. But let me know if you found him.

Let me know if there are some docs you need. I have the full owner manuals for a 290gd turbo diesel

Nice G! The first 290gd I think is in Canada.

Did you found it in europe? Good experience with importing it into Canada? Container or roro?

RE: Looking for a mechanic in the Montreal (Canada) region

Not sure if it is the first G290 in Canada but I know it is the first one in Quebec (the SAAQ required me to get some documents translated so they could build a folder on that vehicle).I imported it from Germany, the process was somewhat of a rough ride. It went well in Europe but I faced a lot of delays over here with the SAAQ. I used a container since Montreal doesn't have RORO capabilities and I would have had to go to Halifax.

Note1: I was lucky enough that I didn't have to pay for vehicle cleaning over here (I saw on forums before that this is a big rip off!). I did pay like 100$ to get it done in Europe which is still a rip off but much better than it is over here.

Note2: I became quite knowledgeable about vehicle importation: if you are reading this and have questions feel free to PM me.
