OK. Here is the message he posted yesterday afternoon: This is the hardest task of my life asking for your help to pay my medical bills I need to come up with $21,000 more than I have and the insurance will cover. Here is what happened: In June I had a compound fracture on my right lower leg while working in the garden. This injury bears a strong risk of bone infection and amputation. First surgery went well - except the wound did not want to close. The amputation risk increased. We scrambled to put a team of doctors for reconstructive surgery together. Nothing in Mexico is easy. They took a portion of muscle and skin graft from my stomach to cover the fractured area. I am at home now and doctors are watching carefully to see if the leg will stay with me. I might need one more surgery. Outlook: 3 more weeks in bed. Physical therapy after that. If all goes well, I will walk again in September. So, can you please help me pay those bills? Even the smallest amount will make a difference. No extra fees involved if you use paypal (sending money to friends and family.) His PayPal address is: harald.pietschmann@gmail.com The following was posted a few minutes ago: Thank you, my friends! So far you have donated $14,121 Hoping to raise another $6,879 to pay the hospital. I am very thankful to you all. Now you don't need the Facebook login.

Warren What makes you suspicious? I think it's A-OK and sent some money myself. His Facebook page has a whole lot more information than has been posted here.

If one chooses to retire in Mexico and drive around in a G500 while posting pictures of the good life in the sun and on the beeches, I respect that...but we are all responsible for our choices. Perhaps some of the Cerveza beer money should be redirected to Medical insurance. Asking for money on an Internet forum opens the road to too many abuses. Good luck Herald with your leg, in the mean time I will do my best to help the needy and unlucky of my neibourghood. Warren

Doesn't bear further discussion. If the thread weren't already in view, I wouldn't give it the service of a bump. -Dave G.

4x4abc Date registered: Apr 2006 Location: La Paz, Baja California, Mexico Vehicle(s): 02 G500 | Re: Harald Pietschmann (4x4abc) Needs Help Warren, this is the first time ever in my life that I have asked for help. And yes, I am responsible for some bad choices I made in terms of insurance. I would have rather sold my G500 rather than asking for help. But I needed a fast solution. Literally on the operating table I was forced to sign $$$ papers. The hospital would not let me leave without paying. A common practice in Mexico. A few years back part of my house was destroyed in a hurricane. In response Mike Serpe started a fund raiser without my knowledge. Immediately cries of foul play surfaced on the forums (some hated Mike Serpe). Because of that I changed the direction of the fund raiser. Almost all the money raised was used to build a house for one of my workers who had lost literally everything. anyway - thank you all for helping me out!
