After the first tire rotation you wind up with one position that isn't monitored.

After the first tire rotation you wind up with one position that isn't monitored. Again, a very astute comment. This means that you are one of the few who carries a full-size spare, and it also means that you are one of the few who (correctly) rotates it in while doing tire rotations. You are totally correct, it would be nice if it had 5 x channels. I do not think it does. I have always been under the impression if I get a flat it is best to tow the vehicle and replace tires. The issue is that my rear door spare tire is *always* a different size from the other 4 x wheels and tires that are mounted. In the event of a flat tire, I am afraid of running the spare tire when it is not the exact same size as the opposite wheel and tire on the axle. I believe this is not good for the transfer case and differential when the two tires on an axle are of different circumference. Edited by H1LM002G55 12/12/2017 11:32 PM

Do you know if they will work with any stand alone system? I am not sure. This system is made by Scrader, a well respected TPMS sensor manufacturer. This is the main reason I bought it.

There are aftermarket systems that do more than 4 tires. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B076JDTLN9/ref=s9_acsd_newrz_hd_bw...

Some of the other aftermarket brands have valve stems and caps that look really out of place. P.S. Yes, it DOES allow for monitoring the tire pressure of a 5th tire. It will be tracked alongside the two tires on the rear-axle according to the operating manual. Edited by H1LM002G55 12/19/2017 10:29 PM

I *really* like this aftermarket TPMS retrofit kit. I have my front tires set at 33 PSI Cold, my rear tires are set at 35 PSI Cold. I opted for the wireless system and I used the 3M adhesive tape to mount the display just behind the transfer case lever. I have to look DOWN to see the display but, when driving, the display diagram rotates continuously between each tire showing you tire location+PSI+Temperature. The PSI readings are very precise and it shows fractional pressures i.e. 34.6 PSI. I have Nitrogen Charged tires and they are Road Force Balanced on a GSP 9700. With tire pressures set to within 1 PSI of each other the ride is incredibly smooth. Well worth the investment and the system really delivers. Since the Brabus exhaust exits on the driver's side just in front of the left rear tire, I notice that the tire temperature for this tire on the highway was about 8-10 degrees higher than that of the passenger's side rear tire. I had to drop it 1 PSI cold to get the pressures to be even when at operating temperature on the highway. Edited by H1LM002G55 1/15/2018 10:50 AM

Thanks for the feedback as well. I did find out that there are two frequencies 315 and 433 MHz, of transmitters and many are interchangeable within a frequency such that my Mercedes transmitters may be reusable. I am not having any tire work done until next summer, so it will wait until then. Of note, I was unable to find that nice 2" gauge available for sale anywhere Edited by otiswesty 1/15/2018 5:35 PM

Of note, I was unable to find that nice 2" gauge available for sale anywhere I know where a normal G500 exhaust tip exits. The "slant cut" Brabus exhaust tips are within a few inches of the tire. The exhaust gasses are directed towards the face of the tire. The display is wireless and uses 2 x AA Energizer batteries. Batteries are supposed to last at least one year. The display is backlit for night driving, also.
