I like the look of the w460/461 grill the best and was wondering if anyone had done the swap. I'm only interested in changing the grill not the headlight light housings ect. It seems like lots of people go the other way to make the G look more modern so I assume they are fairly compatable. Is it as simple as picking up the W461 grill frame, rubber mounts and a new star or is there more to it? Thanks!

I'll stick with the original early 463 grill Tried to upload a pic twice... 1st attempt: Upload failed. Most likely this forum runs on windows 2003 which by default only allows attachments smaller than 200kb. This can be solved by editing the metabase.xml on the server. Modify the AspMaxRequestEntityAllowed value to the desired value. 2nd attempt after resize: ADODB.Stream error '800a0bbc' Write to file failed. /disc/includes/include-upload.php, line 209 Lame Edited by otiswesty 6/4/2018 1:12 PM

Grand edition was a limited edition run of 500 numbered unites for US in 2005 as MB was planning to stop importing the G. Other than some cool exterior badging and a number plaque, I don't think much is different from the standard G500. Yes I could paint it but something about the rugged all metal grill gives it the look I want. For now I'll probably just leave well enough alone.

The original 461 grill is only about $300 from https://www.eurotruck-importers.com/ but I haven't found anyone to confirm its an easy swap.

Thinking about it for my steel grey 463 but I’d probably paint it body color and not sure if it achieves the same effect as it would in black or the factory 461’s dark dark grey I bet the 461 grill doesn’t fit without other 461 pieces surrounding the grille hence these guys made their own Maybe you can contact them and ask for a discount in return you can take beauty shots and share/advertise in the US on Instagram or forums An alternative look is to paint the headlight surrounds and the 09 grille in factory dark grey (forgot the color code) for the g350d pro look Edited by HolsonY 6/7/2018 9:05 PM

In my 76 years I have found that the more original a vehicle is, the better price it brings when sold. All service records add value also. I started buying Mbenz in the early seventies and I kept them original to manufacture condition. When sold, they always brought top dollar. My last one to sell was the 2002 G 500 and it was factory original. I was pleased with the price it brought after being 14 years old and 100K on the clock.

One reason I sold my mint 2002 G500 and bought a wrecked Europa G500 was that I didn't have to concern myself with potential loss of value. It is now far from original and about as perfect as I could imagine it. The G320 that I got a couple, years ago is so nice that I cannot even get myself to drill a hole in the center console to mount a cup holder. Edited by otiswesty 6/12/2018 7:32 PM
