| G300DT fuel level sender fuse
Hi G-uys,
could anybody help me which one is the right fuse for the fuel level sender on a 97 G300DT LWB?
My colleague unfortunately lost his driver´s manual and I also wasn´t able to find the diagram anywhere on internet...

There really isn't a fuel sender fuse. It is powered by the instrument cluster. If the cluster is otherwise working then the problem is in the wiring or the sender itself. Quite likely, the sender is covered with a mass of dirt, salt and rust. Open up the access plate (in the center of the luggage area floor) and take a look at it.

Hi Alan,
my colleague (it´s his car) opened the cover in the trunk and there seem to be 3 contacts, one of them is earth, but the electricity is not comming to the other 2... |

OK. There is a 22 pin connector on the return path. I'm guessing this is the connector next to the battery. The wires are blue with black stripe for the level, and brown with yellow stripe for the reserve light. Also: See my PM to you .

Maybe I'm too late to this to be of any service, but the fuel sender is not 'powered', it uses resistance to determine the fuel level. Assuming your problem is the fuel level is incorrect. Could be something causing more resistance in your wiring (as Alan has suggested - dirt, contamination, or a cut in the line).
Can test the system subbing, in place of the fuel sender, a potentiometer or individually attaching resistors with known resistance to achieve full and empty. |

Get a Decade Box. Cheap on Ebay. Can also be used to test other functions like the engine temperature gauge. |
