Replacement Stereo and Screen

I would like to replace my existing stereo with a same sized 1 DIN unit and add an on-dash touch screen. Bluetooth audio and phone is a must.

I would like to add something that looks like the newer model because it seems so practical.

Re: Replacement Stereo and Screen

Unless it's made for Mercedes and depending on the year of your truck, you may loose some functions, like setting the clock on your dash, all of the telephone buttons and lever features positioned around the steering wheel, plus some rewiring.
I've installed the Pioneer App Radio to use with my Iphone, twas a lot of work wiring and removing it all up but in the end it was worth it.

I remember reading somewhere that one can disable the command using the STAR system.  At that point new options show up in the steering wheel menu that make up for the lost clock setting functionality.

Re: Replacement Stereo and Screen

For my 03 I installed one of those eBay radios they make to match the OEM benz chassis. It runs on android. Plug and play and all steering wheel functions still work. Setting clock you just have to do through the cluster but otherwise everything functions and you get a touch screen. Now for 1 din you may be able to find a flip out touch screen. Mine has all the phone and navi and other things you would find in a brand new car plus all the buttons look like the stock command.

RE: Replacement Stereo and Screen

My G320 was made before any steering wheel features. I do have a 6-changer CD-Player, although would trade that for bluetooth in a heartbeat. It's just a classic 1-DIN unit.

RE: Replacement Stereo and Screen

The Continental is getting good reviews:

Very simple face, fits nicely into the G's console.  It wasn't available when I bought my Becker Mexico.  I'd also prefer to have Bluetooth built in.   A BT module on the AUX line works reasonably well though.

Re: Replacement Stereo and Screen

Blue G,
Did you have to purchase any additional items, wiring harness, etc.?

I would like know if all of your steering wheel controls continue to work.
This is for a 2002G
