RE: OT: New Sprinter 4x4 with gwagen parts

It does not use G parts as far as I can tell but is a Ignahalt ( spelling? ) conversion]

Re: OT: New Sprinter 4x4 with gwagen parts

Ok, on those 18's those are from a Sprinter that a friend of mine recently bought. The guy is in Vallejo, CA. My friends had him put the steel wheels back on and told him to keep the g500 wheels. They fit fine, but on the sprinter they made no sense, not enough rubber between rim and road, which makes for a rough ride (although somewhat better handling). I find that you actually don't want to run tooo sticky / wide a tire on the sprinter, because its just not engineered for all that stick. you'll be more likely to roll the van in an evasive maneuver.

anyways, they did actually stop making the sprinter in 4x4 in europe last year or perhaps even the year before from what I recall, as they began to retool for the new version.

what we know about the new version here in the states is:

1. no longer made in germany as a mercedes and converted to dodge badging, now made in south carolina by dodge
2. looks/feels more like a dodge product on the inside
3. looks more ugly on the outside (suggestive)
4. handles better than the old version
5. 4x4 model planned for mid-late 2008
6. Petrol powered V6 available now at Dodge and Freightliner dealers
7. Diesel 300cdi motor coming in a few months
8. Wheelbases have changed. They are longer!
9. Power windows/locks now standard, better stereo, better seats they claim than previous, well those seats do suck!
