Well, I like my M112 which was bought before "the merger". The M112 won the Ward's Auto 10 Best Engines award in 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001. Chrysler did receive an award for the HEMI this year, but not for their V6es as far as I remember.

Actually, I had an M112 too (1998 CLK320), and it performed wonderfully for the 125K miles I had the car. But you really should try out the 3.5... those extra 50 horsies make a big difference!

Dahappybanana Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Re: 3.5 V6 Questions Wolfgang, is this the article you quoted, you didn't get about half of it, maybe there is a word limit on the post at P3. http://autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060724/FREE/607240... I won't care too much as long as Mercedes engines are not compermised in reliabiity, longevity or performance. Having a shared base isn't a bad thing as long as it meets Mercedes specifcations, and I mean stringently meets them.

I won't care too much as long as Mercedes engines are not compermised in reliabiity, longevity or performance. Having a shared base isn't a bad thing as long as it meets Mercedes specifcations, and I mean stringently meets them. Dahappybanana, I copied the article from the Milwaukee Journal as that's the local paper near Kenosha. Here's the link: http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=477366 Have been to Milwaukee nearly every summer since about 1974. The Harley engine factory is interesting there. They have a new CNC center for their transmission gears engineered with the help of Porsche. The complete gears pop out with a 80 second tact frequency, where before it took about half a dozen or so mills nearly a day. They offer tours. We'll see what happens in Kenosha.
