Torque - Manifold OM617

Does anybody know if there are tightening torques specified to mount the inlet and exhaust manifold of a 5 cyl 3.0L NA OM617 engine?

I cannot find anything in the Engine Repair Manual...

Thanks

- Jean

RE: Torque - Manifold OM617

I thought maybe you had some off-brand manual at first untill I did my research.
Mercedes Service Manual CD for W126 diesels had nothing...even for 617 turbo.
Mercedes 280ge/300g handbook showed nothing.
Mercedes workshop manual for 280ge showed nothing for the M110 motor even.
Lastly, the Haynes manual for Diesel 123 series had no torque specs for the manifold other than:
"Install a new gasket, place the manifolds in position and install the retaining nuts. Tighten nuts securely."

For other related mercedes diesel maintenance items...look here:

Sorry dude, I tried and failed you.

RE: Torque - Manifold OM617

I had the same luck as Desertstar. I did find torque setting for 604, 605, 611 engines
Intake Manifold to cylinder head: Nm: 10
Exhaust Manifold to cylinder head: Nm: 30

Thanks for all your efforts!

I will tighten them - not too loose and not too tight - works always

I did mine like that, by feel.  Don't forget to check them after a couple hundred miles.  The gasket can deform a little and leave the nuts a little loose.

RE: Torque - Manifold OM617

For what is worth, Jean, I went to my Mb Workshop and asked the question about the Torque of the inlet/outlet manifod for the OM617/616.

On theyr workshop manual it is given as "hand tight" when positioning the manifolds then tighten to 25Nm and once the engine has reached operating temperature to be tightened to 30 Nm.

Hope that this will answer your question.
