Ze Bocaina Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | A doubt. What is the real difference in a spring with one , two or three marks? They can resist mor weight and deform less, right? What happens if you use an yellow/orange one mark in one side and a yellow three marks in the other , both in the front. The car is going to be inclinated ? As the driver is in one side and he wheight much more the his wife , will it compensate?.. Believe it or not , as the part number tape was on the marks i only saw this today lookink for very small oil leaks , and the MB istaled them as weel. What to do? The guy in Germany, told me we can exchange free of charge , and of course he will pay both freight costs... Edited by Ze Bocaina 8/28/2006 8:10 PM

I guess, the guys in Graz never thought about it.

It is my understanding that the more strips you have the stiffer the spring. I am not sure but I would think that different spring rates would lead to tire wear and alignment issues. Additionally I would not mix colors on the front. Here is a link (if you do not have it) to Hans's site: http://www.hanshehl.de/basteltipps.htm Here is a copy of an email I received from Klaus regarding the springs on my cab. (he really know his stuff). Hans listed on his site the G spring diagram. http://www.hanshehl.de/bilder/autos/g240/alb/hinterfedern.jpg for the rear springs and for the front springs http://www.hanshehl.de/bilder/autos/g240/alb/vorderfedern2.jpg if you use a yello type spring the base option is very soft. best would be - if you have the chanche wo weight you vehicle - to find out what maximum weight the front axle has to withstand. A 300GDT without ony whinch or other heavy weight on the front axle may fall under 1180 KG on the front axle- If you follow Hans Diagram, you shoud use yellow orange with two stripes. Also a softer shock absorber might help a lot. http://www.hanshehl.de/bilder/autos/g240/alb/vorderachsfeder.jpg Most applies to my vehicle which is a cab like yours.
