Rock Crawling

Someone just posted this on the OT Forum.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7095800703829587222&source...

Needless to say, this was not taken on the recent Treffen. It would have been a possiblity if Q had been present, but he's moved on to other things.

RE: Rock Crawling

I liked the "Winter Wheeling...." one that was on that page better.   I love my G, but I also have a ton of respect for the things a really flexy rig can do.  Some amazing stuff in there.  Turn the sound down though.

Hardly. If you ask those who've been on a trail with me, I'm usually one who's the trip "wuss".

Re: Rock Crawling

And when you get to the top - don't forget to put on the parking brake when you get out of the car, as this guy did:

http://www.vol.no/nyhet.asp?F=F&N=15403

A 1 year old Landcruiser was reduced to scrap. My brother works there and a student had boprrowed the car to go up to a observatory on top of a mountain, forgot to put on the parking brakes and got out of the car.

RE: Rock Crawling

most of these insane drivers get it wrong, anyway, its called rock crawling - not rock bashing

if they would only know what the slow clawing power of a 4x4 could do for them

good for me that they don't know - it guarantees my income

but then, of course, their actions have high entertainment value

plus, I love the inverted concept of 4x4 entertainment - we are entertained and they pay. Cool!

Re: Rock Crawling

fenalaar, that is exactly why i want a g-wagen. Air bags are great, but wouldn't have helped a passenger in that vehicle. it's thicker steel everywhere that will help... which every g-wagen gets the benefit of. not that a g-wagen would have faired much better, but looking at some other posting of test result from blasted armored landcruisers and g-wagens, the wagens did fare noticeably better. Not that i plan on rolling my truck off a cliff but it's the idea of the unintended accident that the normal vehicle certifications and crash testing can't account for that makes me feel safer in any g-wagen, old or new. Wow, it's just good nobody was in that car. I'd like to see the look on the insurance agents face when you show them those pictures! wow.

I agree. This guy was lucky, but then again his car was built for rolling it safely, so why not... I have to say that the driver was either really experienced or really dum when he just kept going after the car was half rolled sideways on the clif. That was impressive recovery.
I also like it better when there is more skill and crawling and less power and speed.

p.s. Ewalberg, your G woudn't do any better when rolling that many times unless you have a rollgage installed. Even with a rollgage it remains as question mark if you would live after that drop... I personally doubt it.

The winter wheeling is nice , flex is nice too but is too , but it prefer the air wheeling with lockers , i feel safer while airwheeling my truck as i know better my limits , flex could be tricky sometimes and leads you to roll overs .

And with 35" or even 33" tires the G will go over this terrain with less stress than the driver is putting on his Yota .

Crawling is the Joy of off road .
