Hi to all, i need some help as to what air con pump is best suited to my G(460). I have just found an original air con blower that fits under the dash infront of the gearlever and various bits and pieces to go with it,but unfortunately the pump was sold with the engine.many thanks.

Here is a picture of one that I took out of a 280GE and put it in my Toyota: http://4x4abc.com/vehicles/york.html

Harald, any idea where to get spare parts for the York compressor? One of the flanges on top of the compressor is leaking a little. Tried to contact CCI (Former York) directly, however all I get is either answering machine or vocemail and not returning a call... Servus Oskar

Rick Date registered: May 2006 Location: Clovis, California Vehicle(s): 1985 300GD | RE: HELP NEEDED, IN SEARCH OF AIR CON PUMP. The York was a wonderful compressor - in its time. But-- it vibrates, it draws alot of power, and many of the current units are not built to the same consistant standards as they were in their heyday. They are now more prone to develope leaks within a few years or sooner, especially at the front shaft seal . The Sandon rotary is an up-to-date compressor, is a popular, easy to install, effective, smooth running, has a low horspower draw, is lighter, smaller, and is a proven long-lasting unit, and the best thing-- it is very easy to put one on a car which originally had a York. Classic auto air http://www.classicautoair.com/ (and probably others) supply a bolt-on adapter bracket, for not much cost, which fits the Sandon right in place of the original York on the existing bracket. Its worth it to do the change. In either case-- go with a new compressor, not a rebuilt! Edited by Rick 9/29/2006 12:25 AM

Sounds like good advice to me rick.A good friend of mine from the GWOA retro fitted an air con unit in the uk by a specialist, they used a compressor off a land rover made in japan or china and it is extremely cold on full power.

Kermit Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Re: HELP NEEDED, IN SEARCH OF AIR CON PUMP. Does the Sanden 508 fit onto the existing mounting bracket on the OM617? We're in for a hot summer down here and I need a new compressor. Edited by Kermit 10/7/2006 3:44 AM
