The leak is slowly getting worse and I think it is time for servicing. Is the pump servicable or do I need to replace it? Is the procedure the same as the 300ge that is posted in the D.I.Y. section of the clubwagen site? Any insights to this issue would be greatly appreciated!... Marty...

I had to replace it and the new pump cost almost $500!!! Ouch. It is a relatively simple but time consuming swop. I am sure someone else on this forum with more experience then me in these matters will chip in and detail the swop. If you need any further help feel free to pm me Good luck Pete

To begin with, its a pretty big job, a lot of parts need to be removed to finally get him out. I ordered a new pomp, which didnt cost me $500, but €35,- (off course not official MB parts) and then i put everything back in. new coolant in the radiator and it worked perfect. It is a DIY job, but you need to take the time, and follow the steps in the guide. took me about (roughly) 10 hours. Dennis

I have compared those of W123 & W201 side by side and they are not the same either. No generic type is available but you need to order MB My mechanic have carefully checked mine during top end rebuilt 2 months ago and it was fine and no sign of leak till now Steve of Eurotruck can definitely help. Best of luck! KL Malaysia

The reconditioned water pump is only ~$100 more than just the seals (according to Eurotruck) so I may as well swap the whole thing. Does anyone have any practical wisdom on this repair? What is the best way to refill the system and what is the best coolant to use? T.I.A. for all the help...Marty

Is there a way to plug this to stop the leaking?...

Most of the water pump replacements in MB motors are due to seal failure not impellers or bearings. -Dai
