Transmission and Shifting Question

I am not able to shift to 1st gear (or hold the gear).

My shifter on my G320 has the following:
GL
R
N
D
 3
 2
-> B

I am not able to shift and/or hold B (1st Gear). I have tried to shift and hold it from a complete stop from both High and Low gears too.

Is there a switch or connection that I can check?

RE: Transmission and Shifting Question

your 320 has a micro switch at the shift lever onsole. When you put it in 2 and move it to the right, the microswitch will engage.

Maybe this  switch is disconnected or broken.

Re: Transmission and Shifting Question

Where does it connect to the transmission?
How can I test it?

Re: Transmission and Shifting Question

It connects with a small gage size cable to the control Unit. Disassemble the middle console and you will find the connector at the shift Unit. It shold be a simple test by connecting both wire together possible.

RE: Transmission and Shifting Question

I would check in the console first too. It is very possible that the switch has just been knocked out of adjustment.
