Loki, Just try to remember that virtually nobody in the US is going to start cutting up the fenders on their G. That would make an already difficult to re-sell vehicle completely unsalable, nobody would ever buy it if you were to cut up the fenders. You have a very different situation there in Iceland, you run these huge tires for necessity. We do not really need tires that large, 33's are about perfect on a G for US needs.

kerr, i also think the 255's are too narrow for your rims. I'd go with the 285/75r16's. dig up pictures of my car... i've got et35 and that effective size on my g500. the barely stick out and people have nearly unilaterally said it looks better than it did before with the et63's and 265's... except my parents always notice how much bigger the 33's with a/t tread look compared to the stock 31" h/t's. It's my take that if i put the 3/4" trim packers on my car i'd never get any rubbing under any situation... as it is i don't mind it, and i'm usually a very picky person about these things. I would have guessed that it would be unacceptable to me, but it hasn't been an issue and i'm constantly parallel parking in tight spots.

Unless your's are in fact much less than et32 effective, you should be fine. i think g55 flares look a little funny because tires don't fill out the wheel well. ... if you've got wider tires on there i think it might change things.

Also your bump stops might not be adjusted identically... the bump stop is on the side that controls how far the wheel can turn into the back of the wheel well.

I agree with Erik, I think the 255 is too narrow. They will look goofy and they are too narrow for those rims. Since you have the ORC springs and trimpackers I would run the 285/75-16. I ran that set-up for years on my G320. It looks good and works well. The problem is the rims. Even if you fit narrower tires you are going to stick past the flares, the offset is wrong.

the 255's look good on unmobiles truck and whomever has the military beadlockers, but it is a narrower looking stance and theyr'e on no wider than 7.5" wide rims. As brent said, If 285's stick out much past the fender flares you have an offset issue... it sounds like adding the beadlockers pushes the outside lip of the tire further out? That effectively inceases your offset.

Definately looks better with the lift The wheel offset still isn't "right". I had 285 MT-Rs on stock 16" G320 wheels and they didn't protrude beyond the flares like that. But, hey, if those are the wheels you have, looks to me like it should work fine. I would be pretty tempted to do the G55 flares though. I think the little extra flare would look great using the lift and the black steelies.

It must be the tires, those are your old wheels I sold them to him when that big block suburban came in i ordered that dealer backed out of the deal on.

Looks good the gray on black.

Nope, not my wheels. I never had a set like that. I have only run factory wheels on all my G's.

I've thought about getting the g55 flares, but I don't really care about them sticking out and the gunk that gets thrown up on the sides of my truck keep people from 'pawing' at it.

Rubbing one side

Rubbing on one side worse than the other can be due to the fact that with lift the panhard bar off-sets the axle from side to side under the truck.  Look at how far teh front and rear tires protrude on each side and then look under at how the panhard bar will swing the axle as the chassis is lifted higher above the axles.  It'll make sense.  Keep after it.  You'll get it figured out.  We need a little twist on the old "X-files" closer.....

Hipine, for now he's got no lift so the amount of rubbing difference shouldn't be so great. i can get slight rubbing on the front side of my fender liners and it's almost identical in quantity on each side... not to say his panhard could be off or bent in some of his adventures though. And it'll become all the more something to keep in mind when/if he doest lift it.

Oh, I thought he had SOME lift already and was thinking of more.  My bad.  Think of it as thoughts for the future, then.  :

Y'all gotta know better than to even look at my posts when it comes to tires though...  I'm running around on those darned 235/85 pizza cutters and LOVING it.  I had some 255/85's once, but the tired M110 couldn't turn 'em up and down my commute from 5k to 9k feet every day.  I might go back to them when I get the 617A sorted though.
