One of my G's front left body mount bolt is solidly rusted in. Tried jacking is out etc but won't budge . Any ideas?

RE: How to remove rusted bodymount

I think you have a couple options. The first thing I would try is an overnight soak in a good rusted bolt loosening chemical. It is surprising how well some of those things work.

Or, you could resort to heating it up cherry red and giving it a good whack with a 2 lb hammer. Unfortunately this method is likely to produce some nasty fumes from the rubber portion of the mount when it gets hot.

I take it you have the nut off?  If so, soak it with penetrating oil, and after an overnight rest, double nut the threaded end of the bolt, without tightening down on the mount.  Then use the double-nutted grip on th ebolt to apply some torque, either with an impact wrench, or my preference, a 6-point socket and long breaker bar.  THe breaker bar is nice because you can alternate back and forth, encouraging tiny cracks in the rust where your next soaking of penetrant can enter.  Keeping at this a few times a day might get it loose.  Otherwise, it's some form of cutting coming into play if brent's "blue wrench" idea doesn't get it done.

May also try protecting the threaded end with the double nuts placed right at teh end of the bolt and striking it with a heavy hammer or air chisel with a blut bar tip.  Sometimes a shock works better tan the steady load your jack was applying.

Good luck!

If you can get a cup supported underneath it, fill to the brim with coca cola so it drowns the bolt. It is as good if not better than penetrating oil I did this with a rusted rear door hinge and it freed it in 24hrs I left it soaking about 3 days and it moved perfectly after.

Phosphoric Acid is the active ingredient. It dissolves the rust.

If left in a glass of CocaCola a human tooth will completely desolve over a period of about a week or 2.

Just a fun fact from an old Biology experiment.

Pepsi is supposedly the strongest of the sodas. I read that tidbit off a chart in the dentists office

I believe that the Discovery Channel show "Mythbusters" proved that soda does not actually dissolve teeth (but may polish chrome quite well).

I am fascinated how threads go off at tangents just like life really. However soak it in Kerosene, best penetrant yet.

As with a G sometimes I am compelled to go off road (off topic).
