I'm looking for a 2002 or early 2003 G500 out of warranty, preferably with higher miles, that IS having most of the lemon problems so often complained about. It will be used as a test mule in trying to find solutions to aleviate the problems most owners of these G's face. The problem is that I can/will spend no more than $20,000 for it, because it may not be possible to fix these problems other than the MB way, but I would like to try. I'm not looking to be criticized for my plan, I do know what I'm getting myself into, and I have equipment for diagnosis, ect, I'm just looking to find the vehicle to Test. Oh, Yea, it can be wrecked as long as the engine isn't ruined. Thanks, Ben Edited by Merz-Ben 10/9/2006 11:16 AM

Heck I think that is a noble cause Have you considered contacting mbusa on some level to see if they have any that were bought back because of the problems? I suspect though that since the new ones are way less troublesome that most of the really bad '02s have already been taken off the market and repaired/resold. Maybe Kerr will sell you his, it is a prime example of the problems those trucks can have

Unfortunately, I am negotiating with MB to swap out my silver '02 and they are in the mid 30's range. I will let you know if this does not happen. It has had most of the problems (Transfer case, ESP, ABS, Throttle position sensor, window regulators, reversing seat controls, Comand units..). God, I had blissfully forgotten these issues since I ditched the grey '02 and the '05 is so darned reliable.
