FWIW, none of the G's pictured are US Spec. That "little extra" high center tail light is OEM for all G's worldwide.

That particular mount, yes. Wagons have them mounted at the inside top edge of the rear window.

Looks like it's been redesigned to be even uglier than it used to be. as i recall it used to be smaller and simpler and match better but i can't say i remember for sure. If anybody brings in a SWB convertible or hard top between '97-'99. LET ME KNOW!

I could use one of those third brakelights - I like it. The spare tire holder appears to be identical to my 1980 version. So, the extra brake light might fit??? Anyone have an idea of the part number and costs? (My EPC devoted computer is currently being moved to the garage so I do not have it together.)

Anyone have an idea of the part number and costs? (My EPC devoted computer is currently being moved to the garage so I do not have it together.) Hello Thomas, the mounting bracket for the third brake light is welded on and part of the spare tire mounting assembly..... so it will take some good workmanship to fabricate this piece and buy just the bake light. With the exception of the ugly third brake light that is welded on, it is interesting to see that the spare tire mount (swing type like the one you see in Fernweh's pic) has hardly changed in years on the G. If they had a G320CDI (I take it that is the Bluetec Diesel) in a SWB wagon (not convertible), I would be salivating for one. I like blue color in the 463.

Grey G320 CDI, black metal bumpers, 16 inch rims instead of 18's, MB Tex interior, factory winch (do they do this anymore?)xenons, my perfect next ride, just rugged enough for skiing, fishing and some "lite" hunting, i reserve the 280GE for the heavy stuff, yet nice enough to jettison the ML500 and make it my daily driver...

Hi fernweh, Oh, a great photo. I think this has given me a great idea to explore. I like the very simple approach that this represents. Ugly to some...but it does give me a bit more safety. Thank you for the photo, fernweh. Tom
