Weird Fault

460 - 300GD ,rev counter has a mind of it,s own even with engine not running the needle bounces all over the dial. any thoughts?

I hope someone has an answer Roughneck, mine will intermittantly do the same thing then return to doing nothing for a month or so.

A stray current perhaps? Must be getting power somehow.

You can try to take a look at the tachometer repair part of this post: http://www.pointedthree.com/disc/forums/showthread.php?tid=5047&sta...

If this doesn't work, you may have a poor ground connection somewhere. Usually the fault repairable by the suggestion abow will manifest itself in the way that the tachometer sometimes works and sometimes don't. When it suddenly starts working, the needle will jump hard.

Roughneck, let me know if the string posted above needs more detail. It seemed to solve mine, Dai's and quite a few others I know of.
