Reservefuel kanister to spare wheel

Hi there.

Does someone has tried to put this item to a G spare wheel holder. Does it fits? Meaning is the "hole" big enough? Any part order #??? Any bigger version than only 7L???

RE: Reservefuel kanister to spare wheel

The hole looks too small, you will have to measure.

Not only is the hole way too small, but the tankis designed so that I could only empty about 50% of the 7L without the use of the funnel.

Alan, that spout looks like the one from a "jerry" can - the "krauts" made a very nice funnel for it

Happy New Year my friend,

Yeah, I know about the spout, but looking at the picture he only has the clip, not the spout.

Re: Reservefuel kanister to spare wheel

It looks just like this one I saw on E-pay for BMW

This one is 6L.

It's supposed to go inside the spare wheel, and the one you have there is the same kind, only a little bigger. I don't think it's specific for the G.

I found one like yours here: http://cgi.ebay.at/MERCEDES-Benzinkanister-fuer-Reserverad_W0QQitem...

The spout is the same as the Jerry can. The clip you can see on the first picture of trcs post, on top of the canister, is for attaching the funnel. On my picture, the funnel is in place.

I don't think it's meant to be used with the spare carrier on the G... My carrier won't allow anything to be but on inside the spare wheel anyway, since the fastening plate would be in the way... Probably it's meant for the passengers cars with the spare under the floor of the trunk.

If you need something bigger than 7L, you won't be able to fit it inside the spare wheel anyway, so it would be better to go with either a jerry can or a plastic can of sufficient size.

Those cans come in the 123 wagon. I still have the one that was in my 230TE. I wanted to mount it in my G spare too. But, my spare faces the wrong way. I may end up mounting it in the spare of my Pinzgauer. At that size, I should use it with my Suzuki Samurai. 7L won't get me very far in the G or the Pinz
