OT - Autoweek Article on the BlueTec E

So there I am on the throne and I am reading about a fleet of E's that the journalists thrash in Russia on a short press junket and my jaw hits the ground when I read that they went through 12 (TWELVE) bulbs. What is the problem with MB? I know of no other vehicle manufacturer (my medical partners drive Audis and Volvos and Saabs and Lexi) that has this problem. Any one else bothered by this? Or is just Friday and am I on a rant?

Are you referring to headlight bulbs? If thats the case, I see lots of cars with the new xenon type headlights that have bulbs out all the time. I dont know if they have a shorter lifespan than halogens or if they are more prone to failure, but I have noticed this. It IS odd.

RE: OT - Autoweek Article on the BlueTec E

The last E class (w210) had poorly designed taillights. The bulbs didn't burn out, but corrosoin at the contact point would make it seem that way. Twisting in a new bulb solved the problem for a while. I just bridged with a soldered on wire. No "burned out bulbs" since.
