I'm speechless- only in Germany would you "find" that vehicle sitting in a yard for years. In addition, the fact that it started right up floors me.

Life is good my friend and you are truly blessed.

Re: To restore or not restore that is the question

Rather interesting considering it belonged to a hire company.

Restore it, or this South African will join the Norwegians. Or export to South Africa.

I have seen a few, almost similar but early 80's models here in S Africa. Such pick-up trucks are called a "bakkie" in this country. LDV (light delivery vehicle) in the UK?

Re: To restore or not restore that is the question

Tempted to break away from the rest of the Norwegian G-club and agree with Twodogs! Any welder could always chop up and create another one from any SWB, nothing more unique than that about it.

Oh, would you mind sending that wood trim to me? You won't need that while killing it

Here's a few shots of a factory SWB pick-up:

No Bill,GM and,Skoda. The only people down here who can afford MB's are builders and, concrete contractors.

So we're 2 for beating it 'till it bleeds against 9 purists! The question is; how does Roughneck count votes?

RE: To restore or not restore that is the question

I'm with Iver460 and TWODOGS, MAKE IT AN OFFROADER! A fully restored truck is rairly much fun... It usually just sits or gets taken to shows, and it looks like roughneck has a few nice trucks to show or drive around on the streets. I've had more fun thrashing beat up and rusted out trucks than I've ever had driving a pristine one.

Just my opinion.

Cheers,
Ben

RE: To restore or To Restore

What a FIND

To restore it into standard condition it would cost you alot and you will always be looking for more restoration .

To restore it to offroad and onroad condition would be a mild solution .

Another Idea if you don't want to restore , slab in 35" tires and it would be unstoppable .

Soly was still using the M110 engine with 35" tires during this trial and the G was unstoppable
