Converting 280GE 4spd to 5spd manual

I know this's been covered before in previous topics, but I need to go to details.

Which part#/type 5-spd transmission used to convert from 4spd in 280ge? Any reference where to order this transmission in US, preferably in CA?

Contact Sean at Eurotruck. That transmission is G specific and very rare in the US. It will have to come from Germany and Eurotruck will probably be your best source for it. The Part number will be close to 717422 10 00XXXX. It will require the shift lever for the 5 speed, possible linkage rod changes and also a shorter driveshaft between the transmission and T-Case. The price for these upgrades is not for the faint of heart. That transmission has a front bearing issue that can be improved with a custom cut alternative to the stock bearing. Contact me via PM if you decide to go this route. Finding used parts might be the way to go. This is a superb transmission because the overdrive 5th gear makes the motor happy at high on road speeds. It just has an issue that needs to be addressed to make it live a long time. I really like mine.

The clutch slave cylinder and the pipe that leads to it is also diferent. You also need a back up lght switch that is different too.
The best way to do this is to find a donor truck.
That's what I did and it took me 5 years of looking
Good Luck
