Front Mud Flaps with Stock Running Boards

Does anybody have a picture of a front mudflap used with stock running boards? I am thinking of welding a 1" angle from the chassis (the big round tube behind the front wheel) to mount the flaps but would like to see others "rigs" before I go ahead.

Front ones won't go without some serious modifications when you have factory running boards on the newer G's.

Nothing! They rely on the boards to keep the sides clean.

RE: Front Mud Flaps with Stock Running Boards

Sorry all. Let me clarify. I know from my searches that the stock front mud flaps will not fit when the G has the stock running boards in place. As there is a 3 inch gap between the G fender flare and the running board, all the mud & slop gets thrown up through this gap onto the side of the vehicle and on top of the running boards. Hence, I need to find a way to attach a front mud flap in some other manner.

I am thinking of welding a 1" piece of angle iron, 18" long, along the hollow tube extending behind the front wheel (what this tube is called I do not know?). My concerns, the mud flaps will look very ugly and may interfere with wheel travel (although I doubt the latter as I use stock size tires).

RE: Front Mud Flaps with Stock Running Boards

FWIW, the front flaps on my 460 are attached with clamps that clamp around the round body outrigger.  A flat bar running horizontally is attached to that clamp, and the flap to that bar.  I don't see why this system wouldn't work with your arrangement.  I'd cut the flap out to clear the running board and then use some kind of stiffener behind the flap in the area around the running board.  Just a thought.  I can take a picture of one of mine to better explain if need be.  There's also the option (better, IMHO) to shorten the front end of the running board a little to allow a full normal flap to fit there.  My sliders are kind of like mini running boards and they start just behind the front mud flap.

What setup is that? I've never noticed a gap between the boards and the body before. Also those running boards look quite different to my stock boards.
