MOD = Ministry of Defense?

BRIXMIS was the British unit that "explored" behind the East German Border after WWII to be sure that the Russians were not up to too much that was not good. Try a Google. This is one of the 881 hits I got when I Googled.

Wikipedia is not always the most reliable resource, but it will give you an idea.

The NVA didn't escape scrutiny either.

Wikipedia on the G is not much better; and I'm pretty sure that most of it was put together by a certain person who hangs out here sometimes. I tried in vain to fix some of the errors; but the "author" would go right in behind me and change them back.

RE: BRIXMIS G

Klaus. I should have mentioned the BGS. (Bundes Grenze Schutz) a G230 GE of German police origin that was used in the Bosnia Kosovo conflict by UN and then NATO in the hunt for the war criminals.
