RE: Fuel Consumption?

Unless, that is that the Bridgestone Dueler were fitted at the factory (they were a no-cost option), in which case you odometer is already calibrated and the indicated distances are actual.

I think you should have a look on to your datacard. Maybe it says what tyres were fitted at the factory.

RE: Fuel Consumption?

If your G left the factory with the spare wheel cover with the stainless steel ring then there is a way to tell whether it was factory fitted with the 255/65s or the 265/70s and that is depending on the following codes:

RB7: 255/65
RB9: 265/70

Well took a look at my data card and it does list tire size but it makes no sense to me... note the differences...

17 Räder und/oder Gleisketten 1
18 Zahl der Achsen 2
19 davon angetriebene Achsen 2
Größenbezeichng der Bereifung
20 vorn 265/70R16 112S
21 mitten und hinten 265/70R16 112S
22 oder vorn 265/60R18 109S
23 mitten und hinten 265/60R18 109S

Also further down under 33 Bemerkungen it says:

And from the Russian VIN Decoder:
Tyres
Primary K31H76575
Rear K31H76575
RB9 spare wheel cover, stainless steel (с 1978)

So it did leave with 265s but can someone explain the bit about the R16 vs R18...

No idea, 'coz no G300TD ever left the factory with 18" wheels.

It also talks about "mitten reifen" when everybody knows that your G has only two axles so I would not pay too much attention to that.

265s then.

So your odometer reads OK. Uh Oh

RE: Fuel Consumption?

Well on my nearly identical 96 G300DT I've managed 12,43l/100km over nearly 100Kkm. I managed an all time worst of 16.31l/100km driving in sand and ripping around on the sand dunes. The data is all here: http://www.spritmonitor.de/en/detail/143772.html This site can be populated quickly if you use Excel for a maintenance log.

Edit: one thing I missed: Even though the speedometer is dead on, the odometer shows 3% fewer miles than that actually traveled. Both measured against my GPS. Its riding on 50% worn 265/70R16 Michelin CrossTerrain.

Re: Fuel Consumption?

I was getting around 16-18 in town with the 300 GD and 21-22 highway. The A/C pulled it down by 2 mpg. 5 speed tranny.

RE: Fuel Consumption?

My G500 is taking 15 l / 100 km on average, a little better than factory figures. City or highway makes little difference for me.
