Resale hits home

OMG, I just did a trade-in valuation at Edmunds on my 2006 E350 with 8500 miles.

Here it is, early 2007. The car listed for $57K and change, and the trade-in is $37K even.

This is where MB's quality-control issues are really affecting buyers...and sellers.

Once upon a time, MB had the best resale values in the business.

Consolation: It's an "Editors Most Wanted" model

RE: Resale hits home

I've been watching those '06 ML's take a slide. A vehicle that sold new for 50k+ is selling for 15,000 less ONE YEAR LATER!!  That's why I never buy new and the used ones that are 3 to 5 years old are just as beautiful. I'll let someone else pay $1.25 per mile to drive it the first 3 years!

The resale value is affected by high lease customers.
MB's have a very high percentage of customers who lease in the US.
After 2 or 3 years there's a huge flood of used vehicles on the market.
