Hope this not a repost.
this months diesel power has a small write up on the GL... makes you wonder if there is still hope for us.
The "U.S. Diesel Initiative" keeps plugging along over at mercedes benz. Just unveiled was the vision GL420 Bluetec, a V8 diesel ment to get your attention because its well its a diesel, and a high performance SUV. The high performance equates to 290hp and 515 lb-ft of torque. MB is claiming 24 mpg and a range of 600 miles on a full stomach.
Oh i wish they put that in the G. i could live with 515 lbtq... |

The 400 and 420 are different motors, I posted this about 6 weeks ago or so. I would love a 420 CDI and posted my thoughts as to why I thought we might see this motor first on US shores before a 320CDI |

Why do you say they are differant motors?
They are the same block,head,cam,pistons,injectors,fuel pump, same engine capacity and brabus take the engine up to the same power and torque as the GL 420 which is too much of a coincidence!

Wrong. Different engines. The G 400 was one of the most unreliable engines ever made and was stopped. Brabus stopped selling their Tuning Box for it.
