I have noticed several strange things drivers do and I have no clue why (they will say it fun - but I guess its an old instinct present in many). Driving donuts whenever they see a wide open area is one that comes immediately to mind. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQXAjwOet6k Well, and then of course mud pits.

Don't be so negative, most uf us don't need a gwagen either, or? I don't really. I live in a city which has almost 99% roads in good condition... I drive 2hrs to the next offroad place. Isn't this funny? It's all about fun!

Posts: 850 | Re: another RC - in Action The truth behind this is that when we go out on outings, the most remarkable thing is that a lot of people with their 4x4 are just attracted to water, just like a kid, when he sees a water puddle he is in already! These people can amuse them self for hours in and out of the water. Once I was, I guess, in the same "boat" until I had to replace seals full of mud and rusted bearings. A boat in water is still more fun! Have a good one, amzimmy

4x4abc Date registered: Apr 2006 Location: La Paz, Baja California, Mexico Vehicle(s): 02 G500 | Re: another RC - in Action I am for one, the last to say "Don't do it!". Do whatever you like, as long as its not against the law or immoral. A careful eye on the treehuggin folks is in order though. What interests me most is - "why do people do it". Because once you notice certain patterns (and if they present a problem) you can find ways for corrective action. For example, I noticed that most drivers not aware of their actions tend to steer uphill once the car moves on a side tilt. That could cause the car to roll over. So, once you are aware of this built in instinct, you can tell yourself when you are on a tilt: "I must steer straight!" Even when the car feels like it is about to roll over, unaware drivers steer more uphill. Time for part two of talking to yourself: "Steer downhill!" Sorry, I'll take my teacher's cap off.

Time for part two of talking to yourself: "Steer downhill!" Sorry, I'll take my teacher's cap off. No, keep the teacher's cap on. That bit of sage advice saved my truck a couple of years back. I very nearly rolled it on a side slope. That lesson ("use the force, Luke" ... no, not that lesson... "steer downhill") kicked in and saved the body work. Of course, getting the truck out of the predicament was a challenge. Still, it was a lot easier than righting the truck and then getting it out.
