Is a 200ge that rare ?

I saw this in Ebay.de and thought a bit unusual as I have never seen any posts here regarding this model.
http://cgi.ebay.de/Mercedes-Benz-G-230-200-GE-Rot-BJ-1990-72tkm-2-H...

Seems to be in great shape. I assume this would make the 230ge seem like a rocket ?

It was built for the Italian market to beat a road tax based on engine size.

RE: Is a 200ge that rare ?

I can't imagine it "beating" anything with a 2.0 liter engine

Just couldn't resist this early in the morning.

Cheers

I guess it would be fine if it was geared like a UNIMOG and never went over 45mph.

I dont think it is rare. Lot of them are on mobile.de. I know about one W463(very good condition, reasonable price) in Czech Rebublic, which is for sale for over a year.

There is a 1990 200GE Cabrio in Atlanta. The owner did say he wishes it had more power!

Is a 200ge that rare ?

Just 1,003 of all types made for the Italian market.

460 216 200GE Petrol 2,400 1 Convertible with fixed windshield 64
460 236 200GE Petrol 2,400 3 Station Wagon 536
460 237 200GE Petrol 2,850 6 Station Wagon 10
463 200 200GE/G200 Petrol 2,400 1 Convertible with fixed windshield 20
463 220 200GE/G200 Petrol 2,400 3 Station Wagon 356
463 221 200GE/G200 Petrol 2,850 6 Station Wagon 17
Total 1,003

The good news is that many of them were bought for rich Italian soccermoms and pampered throughout (Italian weather = no rust) and many of them are ending their days in Germany!

Go to www.autoscout24.com and do search. Hyndreds of G200, and they are the cheapest.

Low - that does look clean. Love the plaid. For the right price it would be a could conversion.
