Can you help me pin down this noise in my 03 G500

Question from a Newbie. Got my G in December with 26000 miles on it from the wife for an Xmas gift, and have had a noise in the front left wheel well area that I can’t pin down. Really only happens when making a left turn over a dip/bump, or when I hit a sharp bump or rut in the road. The sound is slightly metallic insound and I get a vibration in the steering wheel. I’ve had a few other friends drive it as well and they feel it as well, and they hear it as well. I crawled under and checked the shock and took a look at the steering linkage and can’t find anything. Is it the shock, blown bushing, something else? Anyone familiar with this?

For the noise, it's probably the sway bar. Bushing needs reset or it just needs tightening.

For the vibration over bumps, you probably need the tires better balanced... these cars are unfortunately sensitive to tire balance and depending on your sensitivity, some shops just can't get them done right, in part because most shops use conventional balancing equipment which just aren't that consistent or acurate. The "road force matching" hunter machines do a good job in part because they use a shallower taper on the seat for the rim.

For vibration you may be at the early stages of needing a new steering stabilizer, and there's no way of identifying a steering stabilizer going bad without just changing it and seeing if it's better. They often need replacing by 40k miles so even if you change it and there's no improvement, just keep the old one... you'll need it soon enough.

now what's a Strut Bar? West Hollywood has a lot of strange places - but a Strut bar? Sounds kinda wild.

I know it's from pages 10/11 of the 2005 Canadian G-Class brochure. I think I have them all memorized!
