bosch blower motor part number

Hello all,
I am trying to find a replacement blower motor for a mid eighties 280GE (46023317034160) heater/AC unit. The bosch motor part number is 0130111006. My motor guy says that the part number is "captive". I am assuming that means mercedes is still controlling the part. He thought that would be unusual given the age of the part.

A new assembly runs around $700. Unfortunately, this isn't the simple heater motor that has been discussed before on the units without AC. This is for the stock, in-dash, BEHR AC unit.

Is there a chance there is some other extended part number that I could use to find a motor off the shelf?

Anybody have any ideas or access to that kind of info?

Much thanks,
Steve

P.s. By the way, if anyone out there ever needs to remove one of these units...........the only way to do so is to remove the lower half of the entire dash. Not just the center consoles. And yes, even the steering wheel. After that, you actually slide it over to the passenger wheel well. Unfortunately, it won't tip backward like the little heater unit does. I'm not looking forward to putting it back in.

Hi Steve, here is the link http://www.benzworld.org/forums/g-class/1176187-cheap-blower-motor....

Check that out. Flounder posted this on the old forum. That should be the ticket.

Cheers,

Re: bosch blower motor part number

Thanks Dai. It's not that one though. I've already done that job, thanks to Flounder and Gomes. This is a whole other beastie. Basically, I'm transplanting the in-dash AC into my truck and want to replace the motor first.
Good to hear from you.

Re: bosch blower motor part number

Steve, sorry, I thought you meant the simple blower. Consider handing the electric motor to a motor rebuilder. In Corvallis OR, there is a shop called Rugh Electric (541-753-6812) that might be able to rewind and repair it. If not they might be able to point you in the right direction. There are specialty shops out there doing this kind of thing. If you could connect with Flounder's electrical parts source you might possibly find a new one.

Also see if a 123/126 A/C has crossover. It is the same time frame and would be logical that parts would be shared.

Re: bosch blower motor part number

I thought the stock A/C unit was the York? Am I missing something here? I know my vewhicle came with factory A/C, but when I pop the hood I still see the York piston. I realize the blower is in the dash but why then wasn't a Behr unit used for the A/C compressor?
