RE: UK to Bucharest

Thanks Christian and 460, I'm sure we will make it with the information you have given.
460 the event is being refered to as the Grand Prix de Buchharest, The Big Prize of Bucharest, not F1 Grand Prix, It is mainly the British F3 and GT teams but no doubt there will be other local formulas competing, the FIA insists that in any race calendar you must include at least 3 International events, that way Bernie can get his cut. this year it is the turn of Bucharest along with Magny and Spa,

Sat nav tends to be unreliable the further East you go, our main concern is finding sufficient locations that can acomodate 40 trucks at once and 60 crew for overnight stops,
these guys dont sleep in the cab, Race truckies are a special breed.

I need to check the customs situation, Romania and Hungary are not yet full members of the EU.

Yah of horses maybe - last time I went to the ranch there were lots of Gs and empty stables. Face it roughneck couldn't get rid of Gs if he tried - they're a bit like boomerangs with him...

RE: UK to Bucharest

You know me to well Tim.

Well because of Andy's mishap I have not left with the trucks for Bucharest, but thanks to a great deal of help from Christian who took the troubl to run the route and reccy it we all feel quite confidant that it will be as straight forward as anywhere else in Europe, Thanks also to Lucky and 460 for advice, for the pupose of road saftey they left in 4 groups using two routes untill Austria, two groups Friday via Calais Brussel Liege Aachen Koln Ffurt Wurzburg Nurnburg Regensburg Linz Vienna Budapest Bucharest, two groups Saturday via Calais Reims Metz Strasbourg Stuttgart Ulm Munich Salzburg Linz then on via Vienna Budapest Bucharest. I had a call 1 hour ago from the lead truck convoy 1 to say all was well on track and on time and just pulling over at Gyor Hungary. Convoy 2 are on time on route and pulled over at Metz.
A interesting point. in the F3 race all but one car will be a Mercedes, of the trucks hauling the teams out of 45 only 5 are not a Mercedes.
