Mercedes GLK??

Spy photos of yet another 4x4 positioned as a smaller SUV than the ML.

RE: Mercedes GLK??

now that's a really old "hat". Mercedes trademarked the name GLK 3 or 4 years ago. Discussions about the factory are 2 years old. Now another mass market product will follow. But heck, it'll create jobs. Make Wall Street jump. Make a few rich and keep most out of trouble.
I created the original GLK and its name in 1998 for the Jim Rogers project. http://www.4x4abc.com/JimRogers/
GLK because we "married" a short wheel base G with an SLK convertible. $250,000 just to put the two together. Donor vehicles extra.

floating around in the US somewhere. MBUSA has it on display sometimes as they donated the base vehicles. And interesting - with the G they donated a vehicle that they did not even recognise back then.
Jim Rogers web site might have information where the yellow thing is floating around: http://www.jimrogers.com/

RE: Mercedes GLK??

I remember reading about it a few years back. It looked like a grown mans Hot Wheels car. Having such a light weight body it must have been a hard ride. Were you able to retain the funtionality of the folding top?

RE: Mercedes GLK??

a functioning retractable hard top was one of the original rquirements - yes of course it worked flawless. The entire vehicle worked extremely well (no wonder based on a G) - only the trailer failed several times (well, built in California - what do you expect?).

Re: Mercedes GLK??

It' hard to believe that it's been nearly 10 years...

Now that you can find donor cars a lot easier and cheaper, how hard was it merge the two?

Re: Mercedes GLK??

interviewed jim rogers in Henley-on thames, for our club magazine whilst he visited the UK on his millenium tour. Have to say he was hard work. The car was fantastic, he did mention the trailer had some niggles but nothing major.

Sorry, would have replied sooner but I was moving house and didn't see the topic.
