I think the LT designation is american and only show that this is a stronger tire. The load index (LI) is related to to the weight that rest on the vehicles axles. Example http://eu.goodyear.com/de_de/tires/repository/WranglerMT_R/index.js... http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=35 Dependent of how heavy you vehicle is, the tires are designated to a minimum load index, probably all Gs requires a load index, but as you shop around for tires you will see that not all tires have a high enough load index. These numbers are usually written in the registration book (Fahrzeugkarte), as with the speed index and dimension. A pro dealer check this for you without noticing you.

Most US dealers would not even know what a load index is. Since we at the subject - what is the tire load index required for a 460 G?

The tire suppliers in Scandinavia use a regulary updated data-book with common data for all vehicle and their requirements, data goes back to 70-80'. Nice page about gearing/crawling: http://www.4lo.com/calc/gearratio.htm http://intercotire.com/site63.php Edited by 460332 4/11/2007 5:18 PM

But it still was not for crawling, definately too fast. it may seem slow when you put it in 1st low range, but until you are on boulders, you never truly realize, how slow you might really want to be able to go. but even in deep snow, if you can idle along at a speed too slow to spin, with evenly modulated throttle at idle, you can get thru most anything.

What tires did you have on your G? WHat was the top usable highway speed with 6.17 diffs?
