| Extending gearbox breather - how Folks, The auto gearbox breather (722.3) which I'm installing on my G looks like this (see pic), the gearbox comes from a sedan. Is this the way it is on the gearbox which come with the G? I'm sure it's not waterproof. Has anyone extend the breather using a hose or any other means. | RE: Extending gearbox breather - how Well, I went to the garage today, the mushroom cap is just a plastic cap with 2 small holes on the side. One snap with a screw driver it came off fairly easily. The diameter is 1.5cm (~0.6inch), so I'll plug in a copper/metal tube, put waterproof glue on it, then run a rubber hose to the shock tower. But the original breather lines are so small, I'll probably use slightly bigger hose so the tranny can breathe easier :-) I'm not trying to play submarine, but there are times (every 5 years) when flooding gets heavy that we have to ford 60-70cm deep water .... on the highway :-)) My wife blasted through a 70cm deep road for about 500m, the road was officially closed, only people with rafts were allowed :-) I guess my wife has more guts than me (or more ignorant) :-)) (bline.jpg) (bcap.jpg) (bcap2.jpg) Attachments ---------------- bline.jpg (88KB - 0 downloads) bcap.jpg (43KB - 0 downloads) bcap2.jpg (51KB - 0 downloads) | ||

Starter sists on opposite side Hi Harald, I know it's you :-) No the M110 is the engine that is being swapped to 617A, and it is being parted out, the only thing left is the short block, I'm selling the internals only if anyone interested (not sure about shipping yet), everything in the picture except the block itself (I need the engine number on the block for registration renewal). It's got the high-comp pistons. My 722.315 is actually a one piece gearbox whose starter is on the driver side (RHD), it exactly the same 722.3XX as used on 300Es (and some others) except for the location of the starter (see pic), the internal parts are also interchangeable. AFAIK these gearboxes were used in later W123s (>84) and W126 using M110, 617A, and engines in that generation.
