2003 G500 .....

I found a 2003 G500 with 19k miles on it. To top it off, they are mostly road miles with some boat towing.
Not sure how big the boat was.
I asked the asking price high 40's was mentioned.
I will know more tomorrow.
Now here I am, wondering "Do I really want that G or is my 02 with 48K on it, to remain mine.
It is exactly like mine, but with so few miles.....Humm

Re: 2003 G500 .....

I know, i've thought about that because i've seen some 2000's come through with 20-30k miles and i've got over 100k on mine. But for just an 03 with 30k less miles? Both are just scratching the surface in terms of service life. Maybe for an 05... (or switching to a 2000) But i don't think there's enough difference between what you've got and what you'll get to warrant a trade. I say dump some money into a wonderful stereo and call it a day.

I would not trade up one year. I bet they will want almost $20K difference in trade..

If you are in the market id looks for at least an 05+... I bet that 03 is almost out of warranty also..

Do not do it. Trade the devil you know for the devil unknown? Also, I totally agree with ewalberg. Do not go up but go back to the future and really save a bundle. My next new G will be a 99/00. Just based on my experiences. My 99 (second owner) has NEVER has any electrical problem and not a window regulator replaced. They are just better engineered and executed vehicles and, oh yes, they cost 1/2 of what you are looking at. JMHO

RE: 2003 G500 .....

I guess what brought up the question is that my 02 is back in the shop under extended warranty (4 years) for a bad heater controller (Second Time) and the AC has failed. (not Electric). I was thinking the 30K miles less would make a difference and since the 03's have not been reported as being troublesome.
Anyway, I think I'll just wait until the diesels hit the US market and I'll give trading a more serious thought.

every car out there has some sort of problem. Over the years my family has had 20 + mercedes and all have had problems.

as of right now the two best cars ive ever owned have been the cheapest ive ever bought. Both where 94 model chevys.. one a diesel tahoe, other a 350ci 1500 truck... at 60K the diesel quit becuse i didnt change the fuel filter... at 130K had to put a heater switch in it,...

The truck went 150K with only one transmission failure and a check engine light that stayed on from day one...

Im with you on a diesel... I keep telling the wife ill wait until 2010 and get one of the last ones if they make them that long.

RE: 2003 G500 .....

I could not resist looking at the 03 Gwagen that the dealer had. They were a little on the high side as the milage was low. I had them do a car fax and the 03 had more issues than my 02, plus the warranty was set to expire in a month of so. For some reason, they put a new set of tires on it and took off the hitch.
The front of the hood had an excessive amount of paint chips.
The car fax indicated that there was a new windshield installed also.
The G had been towed twice to different dealers.
Then there were the usual problems, Servo mtr. for the transfer case, climate control replaced and the alternator recall.
Regardless of the low milage, buying a starmark warranty is costly.
On the bright side, the dealer replaced the evaporator coil and filter and the climate control unit under Starmarkwarranty. There was no cost to me. I must say I was impressed.
The shop guys said that would have cost me dearly.
From what I could see, that dealership looked like the Matag repairman's shop, too quiet for a car dealership.
Besides, the salesmen were hungry looking.
I;ll wait for the diesels.

The dealer is not talking.
I have to assume that if the diesel is avaliable in several of their vehicles as well as the sprinter, The Gwagen can not be too far behind. I want to be first in line.
I'll take mine plain and simple with 16 inch wheels. Please!
