Start anew. Diesel Idle

Well not sure what the issue is, it will idol fine then drop a bit then idle fine. They replaced the relay and I just checked the fuses.
The only other thing I can think (that would be easy) is that it has a bit old (6 to 8 months) diesel in it. That may be a reason for the rough idle.
I have a local guy that is a master at Diesels I will stop by his place tomorrow for a fast look.

Re: Start anew. Diesel Idle

Run some LubroMoly diesel Purge through it and add some Redline Diesel Fuel Catalyst to the tank. If it is poor fuel those products will help clean things up.

Does the machine have an AC system? Is it possible your compressor is cycling and affecting the idle? The AC will engage with the defroster selected.

Idle ajustment , test drive to make sure that car runs fine are not included in a engine rebuild job?

He said it was idling fine and they tested it all. The engine was rebuilt by Knowles in FL. The motor looks better then new. Someone else did the install. It runs GREAT down the road but every once in a while when you let off the gas it stalls. What happens is when you let off the rpms drop and a second later pick back up. Some times it does not recover fast enough

RE: Start anew. Diesel Idle

Sounds like a fuel pressure problem. Is there a pump feeding the injection pump? If so is it working. If not, should there be? (definately)

I like the idea of running the chemicals through and getting fresh fuel in after you have burned out the old. I would then do fuel filter/s, no matter how new they are.

Could also be an adjustment on the inj pump (idle speed) as mentioned.

Check all of the turbo hoses and clamps to make sure there re no leaks.

Do you have an exhaust temp gauge? This is a great way to keep an eye on a turbodeisel. Though probably not related at all to the idle quality

Take it easy there leadfoot , or you'll be building the engine again.

Break it in right and it will be good to go for a while.

Ask the Knowles engine guys for break-in parameters specific to that engine.

Re: Start anew. Diesel Idle

Did talk with Nole and he said keep it below 3K for 500 Miles.
Ran for 1 hour on mineral oil. Changed oil and filter. Run for another 500 miles on 10 W 30 then he said go to Moble 1
Sean, the truck is BEAUTYFUL. By tomorrow the wife will have stolen it.

It cruses at 60 rpm at 2500
Running the Evens Waterless, I love it so far. It warms up a lot faster and stays below 90C
Happy Happy Joy...
Anyone wanna buy it now $50,000
