The rear fog light isn't working. Anyway, checked out the earth in the back. OK Then managed to get through the electrical wiring diagram spaghetti. Tracing the yellow and black wire into the center console. continuity OK So I guess my light switch is in need of a replacement. Now the question. How does one remove the center console without the need of excess force I've located 4 nuts on the underside, but imagine there are still a couple more tucked away somewhere. Regards Chris

You have to pull out the panel from the sides / bottom with the help of the screw driver very gently. It will slide out /under the heater controls which are static. Finally you can acces the clock, switches etc. THe panel will click in place when you put it back. In my opinion MB could have come up with a better design.

The light switch knob pulls off completely (with a little force) revealing a bolt that holds that half of the panel in place. Take the bolt off and the left half panel can be pryed loose (as described above) the right half can be slid toward the middle to pry and release it from the heater levers. Your panel is now wide open. The light switch can now be removed. Make a note of the connectors and if possible have the new one ready and attache one lead at a time. Install is reverse of these steps always sliding/snapping in the right panel first while aligning the heater levers and the small tongues that fit the 2 halfs together. Hope this helps. Mark

That's the last time I'm buying second hand!!! The switch itself is attached to the console by means of a light plate and 4 8mm bolts. Anyway, I want to get back there and check out the other wiring as well. Cheers
