1984 280GE for sale

Hey folks, I am afraid to say I'm selling my 280. As much as I love her, I am becoming lustful for V8 power, and it didn't help that I test drove a 463 the other day. I am really torn about trading her in on a newer G, and so with the older G market being what it is today, I figured I better get it posted soon and be willing to sit on it until the right person comes along. Anyway a little info on my G. Sorry for the shameless plug.

1984 280GE, 157k miles, imported by one of our own here at P3. This is not a Europa G, totally euro-spec.
5 speed tranny, cold AC, NO RUST, I'll say it again, ABSOLUTELY NO RUST, very clean and original inside and out. Extensive maintainence records, mostly worked on by Executive Automotive in Santa Fe, NM. Top-end rebuild a year ago. All recomended scheduled services performed. This is as clean and original and beautiful a 280GE as they come. I am prepared to sit and wait, so for now I'm asking $18k obo.

Looks like... You don't see good looking Gs as that one these days... not even in Europe.

RE: 1984 280GE for sale

Huss, I'm not leaving the G world, or the forum. The ONLY reason I'm selling her is to upgrade to a G500. The gutless wonder is hard to deal with as a daily driver here in the vastness of the American southwest. -James

BTW, I'll shoot some interior pictures here w/i the next few days for those of you interested.

RE: 1984 280GE for sale

Thank you all for the compliments, it has been very well care for by all previous owners including myself. Your compliments make it even harder for me to think of selling her, if only she was a V8. As promised, here are some additional photos. -James

BTW, a little more info: Alpine cd/am/fm w/ iPod control and interface (you can see where the iPod is located in the photo, the cable is routed very neat and discrete to that pocket). Infinity kappa speakers in the front dash and rear corner panels. Nakamichi four channel amp, no sub woofer.

Now is your chance to go back to your roots...being you have the new ML and all. Added bonus is you have a potential buyer for your G500.

I've always preferred the sunlight and fresh air up on the branches. Besides, some of the "roots" have been removed.

RE: 1984 280GE for sale

are you not tempted to fit a v8 into that beauty and give it a new lease of life or is that being a bit silly?

besides, imagine all the savings left over from a G500 .

just my personal opinion and a way of not parting with that fantastic piece of classic original no-nonsense straight to the point G!

One can dream I supose, but between my 3 month old baby and 2 UNIMOGS, theres no way I could even begin to find the time to make that work. Besides I simply couldn't fathom chopping up such an original beauty. Nice cabrio, by the way. -James

Wow!

What a beauty.  It is immaculate.
(I assume it can't be registered in California, correct?)
