I had assumed that the sales doubled due to the new G320 CDI... but reading it I see that that is not the case as it is MBUSA.

So what has led to the increased interest in the US? I thought it was no longer fashionable to own....

RE: G-Class more than doubled its sales volume.

You have to remember that the G's were held up at the dock since November and just released ... so it went from almost no sales to clearing months of back orders

They sold 101 G's in the US last month ... which is about average with 2005's numbers, but half of 2002 and 2003's

On yesterday's news, the news talked about one of the reasons gasoline (petrol) prices have gone up in addition to refinery issues the sale of SUVs is still up. People are still purchasing SUVs.

huss55,

Concerning the topic "G-Class more than doubled its sales volume".

I don't consider the new Mercedes G-class to be at the same level as Pre-MBUSA Gwagens.

I have driven the G500 and G55 at the dealership and decided not to purchase either of them. I much rather in my opinion drive my G320 Cabrio, G320 LWB and my Brabus G300GE 3.6 liter.

I feel that the Pre-MBUSA G-class are at a differrent level and I like the workmanship of the vehicles rather the new updated full of electronic G-class that are currently sold by Mercedes-Benz.

Respectfully,

James Van Thach

Is it true that only roughly 300 MY2007 G-Wagens came to the USA (the alleged "final" year of production, just as 2005 was supposed to be)? My understanding is that 300 = a sum of G500's and G55’s. Anyone heard similar figures?

May be what they tell the buyers ... but as the figures show, MBUSA has already sold 454 YTD

When they extended production in 2005, they announced end of model as 2010
